Just having a blast

Just had a blast last night at Slim’s, for the Priscilla Ahn show. This is a picture of Priscilla and Wendy. Aaron didn’t make the photo frame, but he played beautifully, as well.

Last night…hanging with some handsomes

Hanging out with The Californian last night at Milk Bar on Haight. I hear they’re gonna cover “Boyz II Men” soon. I LOVE these guys!

“Perfect Games” by The Broken West

Too lazy to come up with original material, although I’ve got a gazillion things going on in my head. Chinese class, signing a gym contract, etc.

Enjoy this video of a song I totally love. The video isn’t like OMG, this is crazy film making! More like, this is a rad song, and I can’t help but rock out when it comes on, and the video is kind of fun. Play it, watch it, rock out like me. Just don’t resist it. Thanks for sticking around.

Oh, and am I wrong? It looks like there’s a scene shot, around 1:22, on Santa Monica Blvd somewhere between Fairfax and La Brea? As in, my old home? Vodpod videos no longer available.

Fun at my first Evan Voytas show

I turned in my final term project last night, which means I can start going out and posting on here again. Yeaaaaah.

Over the last few months, on multiple occasions, Wendy and I have listened to her iPod on shuffle. Whenever one of Evan’s songs came on, I’d perk up and say “Ooooh, what’s this?” This happened consistently, so I’m a bonafide unbiased Evan Voytas fan; as in, I’m not a fan just because Wendy’s been playing in his band.

Last night was a great show. Just ask all the people who spontaneously started dancing and hooking up.  I didn’t take any pictures or video because I’ve messed with my camera settings so  much, I don’t even know what’s going on anymore. And I have a fear of failure so I didn’t bother trying with the assumption that my pictures would suck.

Good thing other people are more confident with their documenting skills.  I found a youtube video posted by alycamus, whom I don’t know. It appears from the video header that she contributes to rocknycliveandrecorded.com. Hey, alycamus and rocknycliveandrecorded.com, thank you for uploading your video in such a timely manner, and letting me drive traffic to your websites. You might get a mighty boost of four new visitors.

Here’s Evan, supported by Duncan, Wendy, Mike, and Aaron:

Later that night, Hayley dropped her brand new beanie on a less than pristine toilet seat at the Echo. Instead of putting it back on her head, she hung it on the stall wall donated it:

In case you missed the broadcast on the TV, and you’re like me, sans Tivo, check out this video. They played “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do)” in some seriously sexy outfits. You ladies look hot! I can’t help it if I sound like frat boy.

The Sweet Hurt performance and chat on Justin.tv

Wendy did a live chat and performance for 671 viewers yesterday on Justin.tv. There was a chat screen during the live stream that you can’t see here. The wardrobe changes are pretty great. Enjoy! Vodpod videos no longer available.

KoreAm video with Priscilla Ahn, Bobby, and Wendy

Bobby, aka Big Phony, interviewed Priscilla Ahn on December 15, 2009, for KoreAm. Wendy gets in there a bit, as well. It’s a cute and lovely video.

Pictures from Desmond Dekker Tribute night

Thanks Candice Kortkamp!

In case you missed my previous post, I posted a video of The Sweet Hurt playing “Take This Away.” This was my first vimeo post, and I hope to post many more. Here’s what I wrote to accompany the video on the vimeo page:

The Sweet Hurt closed the Desmond Dekker Tribute show produced by Social Science Recordings. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the mental wherewithal to record her cover of Desmond Dekker’s “Honour Your Mother and Father” but at least the ol’ noggin assembled together in time to record “Take This Away,” The Sweet Hurt original. Here’s Wendy and Gabe. I wish you could see Gabe’s shoes. They’re Reebok Pumps!

Gabe-Reebok-Pumps.jpgGabe can jump really high because he has the Reebok Pumps

schedule-2.jpgThe folks at Social Science Recordings were kind enough to post a schedule for the night. It’s my fault you can’t read this.

I managed to get there in time to watch my friends, the Monolators, but like I said earlier, I thought I didn’t have my camera so I didn’t take any pictures of the first half of the night. Well, Candice was there, and she took some AWESOME pictures:

Six bands later, I found my camera. Just in time for Obi Best:

The Sweet Hurt performs a hit

Social Science Recordings produced an awesome event, the Desmond Dekker covers night. There were 16 bands (14 bands?), playing that night. Each band started with a Desmond Dekker number, then closed with one of their own. Not a hard concept. Well, one of the bands got pushy and we were all like, no they di-int! Other than that, everyone was very respectful of the producers’ way.

There aren’t any pictures from the earlier part of the night because I couldn’t find my camera (yeah, yeah, yeah…same old story) in my purse/abyss, but I managed to find the camera near the end of the evening, so I’ll post those pictures tomorrow. Not now, because I’m sick. I shouldn’t be staying up at this hour anyway. However, I’m excited to share my first vimeo uploadness, which is of Wendy and Gabe playing “Take This Away” from that night. I know I got a little wobbly in the first ten seconds, but I managed to keep things smooth for the rest of the song.
