Memorial Day weekend of woods ‘n wine

Last weekend, I enjoyed some woods ‘n wine. In my effort to be au currant, rather than spend time posting each picture individually with captions, I’m just gonna post the links to my coordinating flickr sets. It’s a surly post tonight, it is. But still fun!!!

First stop, Bass Lake hike on Friday. Amazingly beautiful day and here is just a teensy glimpse of it.

Then on Sunday, I had my first wine country tasting experience.

Current obsession: Uptown Girl

Thanks to an oldies station rebroadcast of this oldie on Sunday morning, I’m now obsessed with this song and its awesomeness. As a total romantic, it’s fun to see this video because, from celeb-news-folklore, Billy and Christie met on the set of this shoot. However, they also had one of the nastiest divorces ever, in public. Regardless, I enjoy the song and the romance of their meeting-story.

I just so happened to have played this video, over and over the past two nights, while singing at the top of my lungs. Well, maybe not totally at top lungage at all hours, but I get as loud as I can get, while being polite. I hope you’ll sing on the top of your lungs, and let me know where I can join you.
. Sorry nuns, who live above me!

Priscilla Ahn performed “When You Grow Up” on Jay Leno last night

Priscilla Ahn performed her new song, “When You Grow Up” on Jay Leno last night. I would’ve watched the network broadcast at 12:30ish last night, but I don’t get NBC on my TV. Instead, I was listening to guided meditations to help me fall asleep (didn’t work, and I felt like I was on speed because I think I took too much cold medicine), with excitement to watch the internet version today.

If you’d like to watch Priscilla and the gang, they look and sound great!

Here’s the video of the whole episode, which includes interviews with Wanda Sykes (LOVE HER!!) and Ralph Macchio (LOVE HIM TOO!!). If you’re on a time-budget, just scoot the viewer arrow to the last notch for the Priscilla Ahn portion to see our friends sing and play so well. Yes, Wendy is in there. So are Alanna, Alex, Mike, Jake, etc.

First field trip for my “night photography” class

This was taken at Fort Mason on Thursday.

ISO 100, f8 at 60 seconds.
This is the first photo I took when the sky actually turned to night time, which was at 8:42 pm. Six minutes later, I had to puss out and ditch the class because of my Raynaud’s fingers and my chattering teeth. When I arrived at my bus stop to go home, much to my expectation disappointment, the next bus wouldn’t arrive for 15 minutes, so I went into Safeway to defrost, called Regina back, and stared at magazine covers in the magazine aisle. Twelve minutes later, I headed back to the bus stop, sat down, and was shivering so violently that the bus driver, who was sitting inside the bus for his break, gestured for me to get on the bus early. I was so grateful and shouted, “Oh shelter!” as I boarded the bus and thanked the man.

If you like this photo in any way, I must give credit to my instructor, Tim Baskerville, for being so informative and patient with a novice like me.

Frankie and I still dance

Frankie was in town last week. Or was that two weeks ago? I don’t even know. No matter what, I miss the man. I have pictures from his SF visit to post, but that means I need to figure out my new camera first, and get my computer back from the apple store. Oh, the challenges I face! Life is hard. I have a feeling that I repeat that “life is hard” joke way too often. Oh well. Running out of clever new material is….For now, here’s a picture I stole from facebook that was taken during CHOCOLATE SUNDAYS  [by Joe, I believe] at Beauty Bar. I cropped it to show Frankie and I being all cozy, and all composition and such.
